Chicken Status
Right now our farm has one chicken, a bantam. I am not sure what she is but I think she has some kind Old English Game in her. She is black with light brown flecks on her upper torso and the same flecks with spots towards her hind end. She would have had a beautiful husband which would have been silver and light blue, but Uno (our Standard Poodle, who is anything but small and yappy) killed him. Needless to say I was pretty mad. We figured we had better name her, so out of sarcasm I called her Henrietta. The name stuck. She is not laying yet because she is still a pullet, but should be should be laying in January, because she was born in August when we moved here.
Tonight we orderd some chicks from Murray McMurry hatchery. I ordered 6 Buff Cochins (2 males, 4 females), 18 Araucana\Americaunas which lay blue and green eggs (2 males 16 females). Elita ordered two male white cochins with 6 females. The "chicken littles" should arrive February 12.
P.S. I'll try to post some pics of Henrietta soon!
